Start at Tsukiji Hongwanji. The temple’s South Asian-inspired architecture stands out against the evening sky. It is a calm place to begin your walk before heading toward the water.
16:39
Walk 19 minutes southwest to Hama-rikyū Gardens. Arrive just in time to find a spot near the tea house or the outer embankment. The sun is setting toward the WSW, casting a warm glow over the tidal pond and the distant city skyline. This is the key moment of the evening.
17:35
After the light fades, head to Shimbashi Dry Dock. It is a short walk from the garden area. Open until midnight on weekdays, it offers a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a drink as the city lights take over. It is a good place to unwind after the walk.
Local tip
The walk from the temple to the gardens is straightforward. Check the route for the best path from Tsukiji-shijō or Tsukiji stations to Hama-rikyū if you are coming from the transit lines.
