Timeline

  1. 18:29

    Dizengoff Center

Grab a coffee and a pastry at Dizengoff Center before the crowds arrive. It is the first mall in Israel and offers a quick, comfortable stop to settle in.

  2. 18:44

    Bialik House

Walk to Bialik House. Spend twenty minutes exploring the home of Israel’s national poet. The museum is open until 14:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, but on weekdays it stays open until 17:00, allowing you to view the exhibits before the evening light shifts.

  3. 19:09

    Aviv beach

Head west to Aviv beach. This is the moment. The sun sets toward the WNW, aligning perfectly with the beach’s orientation. You will see the golden light hitting the Mediterranean and the silhouettes of the city skyline. The beach has an Eastern vibe with yoga and tai chi often taking place here, adding to the atmosphere.

  4. 19:29

    Mike's Place

End the evening at Mike’s Place. Located just a short walk from the beach, this American-style bar features live music every night and outdoor seating. It is the perfect spot to watch the last of the light fade while enjoying a drink with the local Anglo crowd.

Local tip

Aviv beach is quieter than the northern beaches like Gordon or Frishman, making it a better choice for a relaxed sunset view. Mike’s Place is busy, so arrive early if you want a table outside.

Check before you go

  • Bialik House is closed on Sundays. On weekdays, it closes at 17:00, so you must visit before the sunset window begins in April.
  • Mike’s Place is open until 04:00, but live music starts later in the evening.
  • Aviv beach is a public space with no specific closing time, but it gets dark quickly after sunset.
