    Metsakalmistu Cemetery

Arrive at Metsakalmistu Cemetery early enough to find a quiet path among the trees. The atmosphere is peaceful, and you can take your time spotting the graves of presidents Konstantin Päts and Lennart Meri, or chess player Paul Keres, before the crowds gather for the main event.

  2. 15:25

    Metsakalmistu Cemetery

Stay within the cemetery grounds. Since there are no food or drink shops listed nearby, use this time to settle in and watch the light change. The trees filter the afternoon sun, creating a serene backdrop as you wait for the sky to turn.

  3. 15:55

    Metsakalmistu Cemetery

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the SW, casting a final golden glow over the cemetery. This is the peak moment for reflection and photography among the gravestones and pines.

  4. 16:40

    Pirita Beach

Walk to Pirita Beach. It is a 37-minute walk from the cemetery. The large sandy beach offers a stark, refreshing contrast to the forest setting. In summer, it is full of locals and tourists, but even in winter, the open space and sea air provide a calming end to the evening.

Local tip

The walk from the cemetery to the beach is substantial. Wear comfortable shoes and dress warmly for the January evening wind by the sea.
