Timeline

Arrive at Jancsivár (földvár) early. The site is open 24/7, so you can park and stretch your legs while the afternoon light is still bright. There are no shops here, so grab a coffee or snack in Szob before you start.
16:03
Walk the short six-minute path from the fort to the Jancsivár panoráma viewpoint. Position yourself facing north-northeast. As the sun begins its descent toward the west-southwest, the landscape opens up in warm, directional light.
16:18
Stay at the viewpoint for the moment itself. The sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows across the hills. The transition from golden light to twilight is gradual and calm here.
16:48
Head back down to the main fort area as the light fades. The ancient walls are easier to see in the softer evening tones. Since there are no food options on site, check the route back to Szob for dinner.
Local tip
The walk between the fort and the viewpoint is short and easy, but the terrain is uneven. Wear sturdy shoes. The site is accessible at any hour, but evening visits can be cold in winter.
