Catch the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo wharf. The zoo opens at 09:00, so you will be among the first inside. This is the quietest time to walk the paths and see the native animals before the midday rush.

Stop at the Taronga Zoo Ice-Cream Shop for a snack. It is located just 9 minutes walk from the main zoo area towards the SW. Enjoy a treat while looking out over the harbour.
12:00
Walk 4 minutes WSW from the ice cream shop to this viewing spot. Take in the classic view back towards the city skyline and the Opera House. The light is bright and clear at this time of day.
Local tip
The zoo is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Arriving at opening time ensures you have the best experience with fewer people. The ferry service departs from Circular Quay.
