Walk over to Monster Skatepark. It is a short stroll from the hotel. Even if you do not skate, the outdoor vertical setup offers a unique, gritty contrast to the polished Showground halls. It is a good spot to stretch your legs and clear your head before the viewing.

Position yourself at the Sydney Showground. The sun sets toward the WSW in mid-January. Find a vantage point along the eastern or northern edges of the complex where the western sky is unobstructed. Watch the golden light fade from 19:33 until the sun dips below the horizon at 20:09.

End the evening at The Brewery. It is just a minute’s walk from the Showground. With live sports on the screens and a quiet bistro atmosphere, it is the ideal place to digest the sunset and relax as night falls.
Local tip
The walk from Bacar to the Showground is short, but the area is large. Use the internal paths rather than trying to cross the main roads if it is busy.
