Golden Hour at Blackpill

Swansea's southern edge is quiet until the light turns. We will catch the last warm rays of the day at Blackpill Beach, starting with a snack nearby and ending with a walk through the gardens that watch over the bay.

Timeline

    Flynn's Delicatessen

Pick up sandwiches and coffee from Flynn's Delicatessen. The shop is open until 18:00 on weekdays, so you have plenty of time before the light shifts. Their local cheeses and fresh bread are perfect for a beach picnic.

  2. 15:08

    Blackpill Beach

Walk to Blackpill Beach. The stream flows into the bay here, and the gulls are already gathering for the evening. The sand is soft and the air is crisp. This is the best spot to watch the water change colour as the sun dips.

  3. 15:53

    Clyne Gardens and Country Park

Head up to Clyne Gardens and Country Park. It is only an eight-minute walk from the beach. The gardens are meticulously planted with flora from around the world, and the views back over Swansea Bay are stunning in the fading light.

Local tip

The walk from the beach to the gardens is short but involves some steps. Wear shoes that can handle sand and grass. If you want to stay longer, the gardens have benches with excellent views of the sunset direction.
