Board the Hwaseong-eocha tourist train. It runs along the fortress walls, giving you a rolling view of the stone structures. The ride takes about 20 minutes and stops near your viewing point.

Walk to Hwaseomun. This gate faces west, offering a direct line with the setting sun. Find a spot on the stone pillars or the semi-circular foreshadows. The low angle of the sun will highlight the flower bed carvings and the traditional architecture.

End the evening at a nearby fusion Korean restaurant. The cozy atmosphere and tablet ordering system make it easy to unwind after the walk. The warm interior provides a nice contrast to the cool evening air outside.
Local tip
The train ride is a great way to see the scale of the fortress before you walk the specific section. Bring a light layer as the sun drops quickly after 17:37.
