Timeline
13:10
Grab a coffee and a slice of pie at Blå Porten. The open-air courtyard is quiet in the afternoon, and the pastries are famous enough to make the short walk worth it.
13:40
Walk to the Museum of Modern Art. Stroll through the grounds to find the perfect vantage point. The museum itself is open, but you are here for the light hitting the buildings and the water.
13:55
Watch the golden light begin at 13:55. The sun is low and warm, casting long shadows across the modern architecture. Stay for the full effect as the light deepens toward the sunset at 15:23.
14:25
End your walk back at Blå Porten. It is still open until 19:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, or 23:00 on weekdays. Order a hot drink to warm up as the afternoon chill sets in.
Local tip
Blå Porten is located in the back yard of Liljevalchs konsthall, which is right next to the Museum of Modern Art. The walk between the two is about 5 minutes.
