    Skansen

Start at Skansen, the world's oldest open-air museum. Walk through the grounds and head toward Solliden. The classical Swedish smörgåsbord is served here in the warmer months, but even outside of that, the location offers an astounding view of the inner harbour that is perfect for settling in before the main event.

  2. 15:08

    NK

Stop at NK, the upmarket department store known for its classic fashion and elaborate Christmas displays. It is a short walk from the museum area. Browse the window decorations or the book department to pass the time while the light begins to soften.

  3. 15:23

    Skansen

Return to Skansen for the sunset. The sun sets toward the SW, offering a dramatic backdrop over the historic buildings and the harbour view from the museum grounds. This is the moment to appreciate the golden light fading over Stockholm's oldest cultural site.

  4. 15:43

    Frantzén

End the evening at Frantzén, the only restaurant in Stockholm awarded three Michelin stars. It is just a five-minute walk from the concert hall area, making it an easy and elegant finish to the day.

Local tip

Skansen is a large site. Use the walk from the anchor to get your bearings, but keep the viewing spot close to the harbour-facing areas for the best sunset angle.
