Pick up a warm pastry and coffee. Vete-Katten has been serving locals since 1928 and its historic interiors are perfect for warming up before the walk. The shop is open until 19:00 on weekdays, so you have plenty of time.
14:38
Walk to Sergels torg. The square’s black-and-white Harlequin floor is a striking contrast against the grey winter sky. It is a central meeting point and the perfect spot to orient yourself before the sun goes down.
15:18
Position yourself near Klara Church. This 16th-century redbrick building is one of the few survivors from the old district. Stand where the square meets the church grounds. As the sun sets toward the SW, the golden light will hit the church facade just as it dips below the horizon.
15:48
End the evening with a browse at NK. This upmarket department store is just a short walk from the church. Even after dark, the elaborate window displays (especially in winter) are worth seeing, and you can grab a hot drink inside if you wish.
Local tip
The square can get crowded with demonstrations or flash mobs. If you want a clear view of the sunset, step slightly back toward the church entrance rather than staying in the middle of the pedestrian zone.
