Timeline

    Wolfe's Pond Park

Arrive at Wolfe's Pond Park via the main entry on Cornelia Avenue. Park near the eastern half where the paths are most accessible. The park is bounded by Holton Avenue to the west and the Staten Island Railway to the northwest.

  2. 15:57

    Wolfe's Pond Park

Find a bench or a quiet spot near the water’s edge along the southern boundary. There is no food or drink available inside the park, so bring a simple snack and a thermos of hot coffee or tea from earlier in the day. Wait for the light to change.

  3. 16:12

    Wolfe's Pond Park

Watch the golden light hit the water. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm glow across Raritan Bay. This is the peak moment for photography and quiet reflection.

  4. 16:32

    Wolfe's Pond Park

Take a slow walk along the perimeter paths as the light fades. The park is large, so stick to the eastern half where the trails are well-defined and lit by the last remnants of daylight.

Local tip

The park is bisected by Hylan Boulevard, so most visitors only see the eastern half. Stick to the eastern trails for the best views of the bay and the easiest access from Cornelia Avenue.

Check before you go

  • Bring your own food and drinks as there are no vendors in the park.
  • Check the S78 bus schedule if you are arriving via Seguine Avenue.
  • Dress warmly in January as the wind off the bay can be chilly.
