Arrive at Freshkills Park. Walk into Schmul Park in Travis to see the colorful playground, basketball courts, and the open grass field that make up the first developed section of this 2,200-acre park.

Head to Farington's Cafe & Restaurant for lunch. It is just a short walk from the park area. Note that it is closed on Tuesdays, so check the day before you go.

Return to Freshkills Park for a longer walk. The sheer scale of the former dump site turned park is best appreciated by wandering the trails and open spaces after your meal.

Freshkills Park is still in development. Stick to the marked trails and open areas in Schmul Park for now. Farington's Cafe & Restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
