Timeline
15:31
Stop at Stamford Cheese Cellar. The spiral staircase down is steep, but the range of cheeses and accompaniments is wide. Pick up a small board to take with you.
15:46
Walk up to the Stamford Arts Centre. This 18th century building hosts a 166-seat theatre-cinema, a gallery, cellar bar, a cafe and a large ballroom. Head to the balcony or a window seat.
16:16
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the SW, casting golden light over the town. Enjoy your cheese board as the light fades.
17:01
End the evening at The Tobie Norris. The building dates to 1280, and Tobie Norris made it into a bell-foundry. It's been restored into a trad pub with original timber beamed ceilings and does good food. Dog-friendly, but they ban prams and pushchairs.
Local tip
