Golden Hour in Laclede's Landing

Start with a sweet treat, catch the last light on the river, and end the night in the old town.

Best time: 15 JanuaryAbout 90 min

Timeline

  1. 15:48

    Cafe de Blaire

Grab a coffee and handmade ice cream at Cafe de Blaire. It is just a short walk from the anchor and perfect for a pre-sunset pick-me-up.

  2. 16:18

    Eads Bridge

Walk to the ESE to the Eads Bridge. This historic steel structure offers a clear view of the Mississippi as the sun sets toward the WSW. The walk takes about 19 minutes from the anchor, so leave Laclede's Landing now to arrive with time to spare.

  3. 17:03

    Eads Bridge

Watch the sunset. The sky will turn as the sun dips below the horizon. Stay here for the golden light that begins at 16:23.

  4. 17:33

    Tiny Bar

Head back toward the anchor and find Tiny Bar. It is a 15-minute walk from the bridge area (via the anchor) and opens at 16:00, so it will be ready for your evening drink.

Local tip

The Eads Bridge is a bit of a walk (19 mins) from the main square. Bring a jacket; the river wind picks up at sunset. Check the route if you are not familiar with the path.

Check before you go

  • Cafe de Blaire has no listed hours, so verify opening times before you go.
  • Tiny Bar is open We-Fr 16:00-22:00. If you are visiting on a weekend, it is closed; try Trust (Tu-Fr 16:00-22:00) or Hayden's Irish Pub (Mo-Fr 15:00-22:00) instead.
