    Signal Hill

Walk 11 minutes ESE to Signal Hill. Arrive here an hour before sunset to secure a good spot. The hill overlooks the city and is a National Historic Site. The sun sets toward the WSW, offering a clear view of the horizon as the day ends.

  3. 16:06

    Battery Cafe

Walk 10 minutes to Battery Cafe. Grab a coffee or a snack to keep warm as the evening chill sets in. The cafe is open until 21:00 on weekdays, so it will be open and ready for you.

  4. 16:36

    Signal Hill

Return to Signal Hill for the final moment. Watch the sun dip below the horizon toward the WSW. The golden light fades quickly in January, so this is the perfect time to take in the last views of the city from this historic vantage point.

Local tip

The walk from the GeoCentre to Signal Hill is short but steep. Wear comfortable shoes. Battery Cafe is a reliable spot for a warm drink after being out in the wind.
