Walk the grounds of Parke's Castle while the late afternoon sun warms the stone. The fortifications are easiest to appreciate in this soft light before the shadows take over. Check the route if you need directions from Sligo town.
18:35
Stay for sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a final glow over the lake and the castle ruins. It is a quiet moment to watch the light fade.

Check the route back to Sligo town for dinner. There are no food or drink options listed at the castle itself, so you will need to head into town to find a place to eat after dark.
Local tip
The castle is open daily from 10AM to 5PM between April and October. If you arrive after 5PM, you will not be able to enter the site, so plan to be there before closing if you wish to go inside. For an evening walk around the exterior, you can stay as long as you like.
Check before you go
- Opening hours are 10AM-5PM daily from Apr-Oct.
