Timeline
15:37
Grab a coffee and settle in. Berm Berm Coffees opens early, so you have plenty of time to plan your shot and relax before the walk.
16:07
Walk to Angkor Botanical Garden. The gardens are beautifully kept with a mini zoo and playground. Find a clear spot facing WSW to wait for the alignment. The sun sets directly behind Angkor Eye between 1 Nov and 10 Nov, and 1 Feb and 9 Feb.
17:37
Watch the sunset. At 17:37, the sun will set directly behind the Ferris wheel. This is the key moment of the experience.
18:37
Head to Chef Pan Angkor for dinner. It is a short walk from the garden and stays open until midnight, giving you time to digest the view and enjoy a meal.
Local tip
The alignment only happens on specific dates. Check if your visit falls between 1 Nov and 10 Nov, or 1 Feb and 9 Feb. If you are outside these dates, the sun will not align with the wheel from this spot.
Check before you go
- Angkor Eye closes at 18:00, but you are viewing it from outside, so this does not affect the sunset view.
- Chef Pan Angkor is open Mo-Sa 17:00-24:00. It is closed on Sundays.
- Berm Berm Coffees is open 06:30-19:30 daily.
Worth knowing
- Sun position is calculated. We have not confirmed the view is unobstructed.
- Chef Pan Angkor is open at 18:37 only on Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa
