Pick up a coffee or snack at the Centre in the Park. It is right inside the Norfolk Heritage Park, so you can start your walk without leaving the grounds. The café is open until 16:00, which fits perfectly before the 16:17 sunset.

Walk up the hill to the Cholera Monument. It is only a 16-minute walk from the park centre and offers commanding views over the city centre. This is the best vantage point to watch the sun set toward the SW.
16:32
Head down to Park Hill. The brutalist blocks are a striking sight as the evening light hits them. You can walk from the monument area in about 21 minutes. Look for the famous 'I love you will u marry me' graffiti on the overhead walkways.
Local tip
The walk from the monument to Park Hill is steep in parts. Wear comfortable shoes. The Centre in the Park is the only food option inside the anchor park, so plan to eat there before heading to the viewpoints.
Check before you go
- The Centre in the Park closes at 16:00. Ensure you arrive there before then on a winter evening.
- Check the route for the walk between the park centre and the Cholera Monument, as the path involves a significant hill climb.
