Timeline
15:02
Start with a pint of local ale at The Sheaf View. It is a real ale hotspot known for friendly folk and knowledgeable bar staff, perfect for relaxing before the walk.
15:32
Walk from the pub to Heeley City Farm. The farm is open until 17:00, so you have plenty of time to see the rare breed animals and gardens before the sun goes down.
15:47
Take the short 3-minute walk from the farm to the Heeley White Horse. This memorial to Barney the cob is best viewed in the fading light of the setting sun.
16:17
Watch the sun set toward the SW. The golden light hits the white horse just before the sun dips below the horizon.
16:47
Return to The Sheaf View for dinner or a nightcap. The pub stays open until 23:30 on weekdays and 00:30 on weekends, so it is open late enough to finish your evening there.
Local tip
The farm closes at 17:00, so make sure you finish your animal visit with enough time to walk up the slight hill to the white horse before dark.
