Timeline

  1. 12:17

    Botanical Gardens

Walk the formal borders and rose garden while the light is still soft. The Victorian glasshouses by Joseph Paxton are open and perfect for a quiet morning stroll.

  2. 14:17

    Woody's Sandwich Bar

Grab a handmade sandwich or a hot baguette from Woody’s Sandwich Bar. It is one of the city’s best shacks, so expect a queue at weekends, but the food is worth the wait.

  3. 15:17

    Park Hill

Walk up to Park Hill to see the Grade-II* listed brutalist blocks. Look for the famous graffiti on the overhead walkways where the words 'I love you will u marry me' have been displayed for over 15 years.

  4. 16:17

    Botanical Gardens Cafe

End the walk at the Botanical Gardens Cafe. Enjoy a drink or a light bite while watching the sun set toward the SW, casting a warm glow over the gardens.

Local tip

The gardens close at dusk, so keep an eye on the sky. The walk from the gardens to Park Hill is steep but rewarding.
