Sunset behind the Lenin

Line up your drink and your view before the sun drops behind the statue.

Best time: 1 AprAbout 90 min

Timeline

  1. 18:52

    Fremont Brewing

Grab a beer at Fremont Brewing’s outdoor garden. It is open until 21:00, so you have plenty of time to settle in before the light changes.

  2. 19:17

    Fremont Troll

Walk four minutes east to the Fremont Troll. Stand under the bridge and look west. This spot is only 277 meters from the statue, making it the perfect vantage point to see the sun set directly behind it.

  3. 19:37

    Fremont Troll

Watch the sunset. The sun dips behind the Statue of Lenin around 19:37 local time. The concrete Troll holds its grip on the Volkswagen Bug as the sky shifts color.

  4. 20:02

    George and Dragon

Head back west for 7 minutes to the George and Dragon pub. It is a British-style pub with dark wood interiors and is open until 02:00, a solid place to stay and discuss the view.

Local tip

The alignment is precise. Arrive early enough to secure a good spot near the Troll but not so early that you miss the pre-sunset golden hour near the brewery.

Check before you go
