Timeline
17:15
Arrive at the Mangrove Information Centre to buy tickets and start exploring the boardwalks while there is still plenty of daylight. The centre is open from 08:00 to 18:00, so you have plenty of time to wander the 600-hectare forest before the sun sets.
18:30
Find a spot near the edge of the boardwalks to wait for the golden light. The sun sets toward the WSW on this date, offering a clear view as the light softens over the mangrove canopy.
18:45
Watch the sunset. The sky turns deep orange and purple as the sun disappears below the horizon. Stay for a few minutes to let your eyes adjust to the dimming light.
19:15
Finish your walk through the mangroves as it gets dark. The centre closes at 18:00, so ensure you head back toward the exit before then. After dark, the forest is quiet and peaceful.
19:45
Head out of the mangrove forest and check the route for dinner options in the nearby Sanur area. The evening is just beginning, and you can enjoy a meal after your nature walk.
Local tip
The Mangrove Information Centre closes at 18:00. Plan your walk so you are near the exit by then, especially if you are visiting in July or October when sunset is earlier.
