Timeline
15:20
Grab a cocktail at Secreto Lounge. It is one of the best places for people-watching in Santa Fe, and the crowd is sedate. Look for the award-winning mixologists Daniel and Chris.
16:15
Walk up to the Scottish Rite Temple. This startling, bright pink Moorish-style building is modeled after the Alhambra in Granada. Arrive early to find a good angle before the light fades.
16:35
Stand at the Santa Fe Plaza to watch the sunset. The temple is north of the plaza, so the setting sun will illuminate its pink facade from a distance. The sun sets toward the WSW.
17:20
End the evening with dinner at Santacafe. It is one of Santa Fe's big-name restaurants with creative American/Continental fare and attentive service. Excellent matchbooks, too.
Local tip
The Scottish Rite Temple tours are only on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10AM or 2PM, so you must call to schedule if you want to go inside. For the exterior photography, no ticket is needed.
