Timeline

Start with an espresso at Caffe Trieste. It is a North Beach landmark and very popular with locals. The coffee is excellent and the atmosphere is distinctly European.
16:21
Walk up to Coit Tower. It stands atop Telegraph Hill and gives an excellent view of the bay and the rest of the city. Find a spot on the grounds to wait for the sun to go down.
17:14
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a golden glow over the water and the city skyline below.
17:59
End the evening at The Saloon. It is the oldest bar in San Francisco and certainly looks like it too. It is grotty and rough looking inside and out, but has a rich history with old blues and jazz.
Local tip
The walk from Caffe Trieste to Coit Tower takes about 7 minutes, but the climb up Telegraph Hill is steep. Allow extra time if you are not used to hills.
