    Grab a coffee and a pastry at the Cosmopolitan Restaurant and Hotel. The garden setting is quiet and pleasant in the late afternoon.

    Presidio Park

    Walk up to the hilltop at Presidio Park. Find a spot on the grassy lawns facing west. The Junipero Serra Museum is nearby, but you want the open view over the canyons and towards the bay.

    Presidio Park

    Watch the sun dip below the horizon. The golden light hits the historic buildings of Old Town below, and the sky turns deep blue.

    Heritage Park

    Walk down to Heritage Park in Old Town. It is ringed with historic Victorian houses that are beautifully lit by the remaining twilight. It is a short, easy stroll from the park.

Local tip

The walk from Presidio Park to Heritage Park is downhill and well-signed. The Cosmopolitan is open until 22:00, so you have plenty of time for your pre-sunset snack.
