Timeline

  1. 19:30

    Friends

Start with a late lunch at Friends. It is a short walk from the Museo de la Patagonia and serves great specials and pasta. Arriving here before the evening rush lets you enjoy the meal without the wait.

  2. 20:33

    Plaza San Francisco

Walk from the center to Plaza San Francisco. It is a bit of a trek, but the space opens up near the water. Use the time to breathe in the mountain air before the main event.

  3. 21:18

    Mirador Nahuel Huapi

Stand at Mirador Nahuel Huapi. This viewpoint is positioned to the west, directly in line with the sun as it dips below the horizon. The golden light will hit the lake and the Andes just before the sun vanishes at 21:18.

  4. 22:03

    Manush

Head to Manush for dinner. This brewpub is close by and serves large, reasonably priced meals heavy on beef. It is a casual spot with homemade empanadas and steaks, perfect for refueling after the cold wind at the viewpoint.

  5. 22:48

    Antares Brewery

Finish the night at Antares Brewery. The happy hour runs until 20:00, but even after that, the two-for-one pint deal and potent barley wine make it a favorite. It is a short walk from Manush and keeps the evening going with great local beer.

Local tip

The walk to Plaza San Francisco is long. If you prefer a shorter route to the water, Mirador Nahuel Huapi is closer to the center, though it requires a bit more walking from the dining district. Check the route if you are unsure.

Check before you go

  • Friends is open until 01:00, so you have plenty of time for a leisurely lunch.
