Timeline
19:38
Stop at Cafe Delirante for a coffee or tea. It is a short walk from the cable car base, giving you time to settle in before the ascent.
19:58
Head to the Cerro Otto cable car. The fare includes the ride up and down, or you can choose to hike or bike down later. Take the lift to the summit to escape the city below.
20:38
Stand at Cerro Otto. As the golden light begins, look west toward the WSW. The rotating restaurant offers impressive vistas of the region, and the view from the summit captures the fading light perfectly.
21:18
Walk down to Stupa. This viewpoint is closer to the base than the summit and offers a quiet moment to reflect on the view as the light fades completely.
Local tip
The cable car is the most reliable way to reach the summit in time for the light. If you hike down, allow about 2½ hours.
