Best time: 15 JanAbout 180 min

Timeline

  1. 06:22

    Rainberg

Be at the Rainberg summit for sunrise. The sun rises in the east, so you will have the city below you bathed in early morning light before the golden hour hits.

  2. 08:02

    Tomaselli

Head down to Alter Markt 9 for the oldest coffee house in Salzburg. By this time, the café is open and ready to serve. Order an Einspänner and Sacher cake to celebrate the view you just left behind.

  3. 08:52

    Relief, Heiliger Sebastian

Walk to the Relief of Heiliger Sebastian. This public art piece is a quiet stop on your way through the city center, letting you digest your coffee in the morning air.

Local tip

The café at Alter Markt opens at 07:00 on weekdays, which aligns perfectly with a sunrise start at 07:52. If you are visiting on a Sunday, the café opens at 08:00, so you may need to wait a few minutes after sunrise to get your coffee.
