Timeline

  1. 13:00

    Museum of Electrical Transport

Arrive at the Museum of Electrical Transport as it opens for the afternoon. The old Vasileostrovsky tram depot was built between 1906 and 1908 and is open from Tuesday to Sunday. Being here at the start of the open window lets you explore the exhibits without the mid-afternoon rush.

  2. 13:45

    Authentic Ancient Egyptian Sphinxes

Walk east for 28 minutes to see the Authentic Ancient Egyptian Sphinxes. These two granite statues date from the 14th century BC and were excavated in 1820. They are a striking piece of public art that feels out of place in Saint Petersburg but are well worth the short walk from the museum.

  3. 14:30

    Таверна Гролле

Head back toward the museum area and walk 8 minutes to Таверна Гролле. This Mediterranean restaurant is open 24 hours a day, making it a reliable spot for a late lunch or early dinner. You can enjoy small plates of Russian and European specialties in a relaxed setting.

Local tip

The museum is closed on Mondays. If you are visiting on a Monday, start your day at the sphinxes and the restaurant first, then check the museum schedule for Tuesday.
