Timeline
15:45
Grab a coffee and a small plate at Ragu. It is open until 23:00, so you have plenty of time to settle in before the light changes.
16:15
Walk 15 minutes to the Menshikov Palace. This Baroque palace was the first stone building in Saint Petersburg. Use the time inside to warm up and get your bearings before heading out to the square.
16:30
Walk 3 minutes west to the Rumyantsev Obelisk. Stand in the centre of Rumyantsev Square. At 16:30, the sun sets toward the SW, casting long shadows across the granite and the palace facade.
17:00
End the evening with a warm drink at Шоко-Мокко. It is a 14-minute walk from the palace, open until 23:00, and offers a quiet spot to reflect on the day.
Local tip
The walk from the palace to the obelisk is short and direct. If you prefer a drink with a fireplace atmosphere, WöD is also near the palace and open until 24:00 on weekdays.
Check before you go
- Menshikov Palace is open Tu-Su 10:30-17:30. If you visit on a Monday, it will be closed, so adjust your start time to begin at the obelisk or a café instead.
- Ragu, Ragu, and Шоко-Мокко are all open late, but check if you need to reserve a table for dinner at any of the restaurants.
