Timeline
09:00
Pick up supplies or a quick coffee at Supermarket Kuukkeli. It opens at 09:00, making it the perfect start to your morning before heading out.
09:15
Walk to Iisakkipää. Take the shorter 2.5 km variant along the lower slopes if you want a gentle introduction to the Ice Age trails. The summit offers a view less disturbed by ski resort structures than the higher peak.
10:30
Head to Teerenpesä for lunch. This restaurant and pub is known for good value. Try the savuporoburger, a smoked reindeer burger that won't disappoint you.
11:15
End your visit with a drink at Saariselän Panimo, the local microbrewery. It is a very authentically Finnish place where you can try Jellona Terwasnapsi, a home-brewed tar-flavored schnapps.
Local tip
The trails to Iisakkipää are marked as snowshoe trails in winter. In summer, the shorter 2.5 km variant is ideal for a relaxed daytime walk.
