    Saariselän Panimo

Grab a Jellona Terwasnapsi, the home-brewed tar-flavored schnapps, at the local microbrewery. It is an authentically Finnish place in character and perfect for warming up before the walk.

  2. 15:22

    Prospector's trail

Walk the Prospector's trail. This former gold mining route leads to a mine and a mine hut near Laanila. In winter, it is a skiing track that connects to other trails in the national park.

  3. 16:07

    Prospector's trail

Stop at a quiet spot along the trail or near the mine hut. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting long shadows across the landscape as the golden light begins to fade.

  4. 16:37

    Teerenpesä

End the evening at Teerenpesä. The kitchen is open until 23:00, so you can grab a savuporoburger or a drink in the pub atmosphere while it is still open.

Local tip

The sun stays low all day in October. Dress warmly and check the trail conditions if there is snow.
