Drive or take the shuttle bus from Ruzhou city to Jiliang Town. Get off near the Jiufengshan Scenic Area and walk up to the viewing ridge. The park opens at 08:00, so you have plenty of time to arrive early and find a good spot on the west-facing slope.

Watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light begins around 17:04, painting the nine peculiar peaks in warm tones. Stay for the final moments of daylight as the sky shifts from gold to blue.

Head back down to the shuttle stop or your car. The scenic area closes at 18:00, so ensure you are out before then. Return to Ruzhou city center for dinner.
Local tip
The scenic area is a provincial-level forest park built on Jiufengshan National Forest Park and Tengkou Reservoir. Wear sturdy shoes for the walk up the ridge.
