Grab a bite at Restaurant Nili. The menu features local specialties like arctic char, perfect for a hearty start before the evening chill sets in. The kitchen is open from 12:00 to 23:00, so you have plenty of time before the sun goes down.

Walk 19 minutes east from Korundi House of Culture to Ounaskoski beach. This popular sand beach sits right by the river. The current is strong, so stay behind the safety barrier. Arrive here to watch the sun set toward the SSW, casting a low, golden glow over the water.
15:04
Stay at the beach for a while as it gets dark. The locker rooms and toilets are available if you want to freshen up, or simply enjoy the quiet of the riverbank after the light has faded.
15:34
Head back toward the center to Pub Oluthuone. This cosy, fairly typical Finnish pub is a favorite among locals aged 30 and up. It is cheaper than many other bars in the centre and offers a relaxed atmosphere after your evening walk. Open from 11:00 to 02:00 on weekdays.
Local tip
Check the route back from Ounaskoski beach to the city center if you are not familiar with the area. The walk is short but it gets dark quickly in January.
