Arctic Circle National Hiking Area
Arrive at the Arctic Circle National Hiking Area entrance. The infrastructure is well-maintained, so you can start with the 200 m wheelchair-friendly nature trail or the 1.5 km trail to get your bearings without fatigue.

Walk 13 minutes to Kauppa-Shop. It is open from 08:00 on weekdays and 08:00 on Saturdays, so you will find it ready for your morning coffee or a quick snack to take with you.

Arctic Circle National Hiking Area
Return to the hiking area with your supplies. Use the extra time to explore the longer marked trails or simply sit in one of the lean-to shelters to watch the morning light change over the forest.
Local tip
Check the route if you are not driving, as the area is 20 km east of Rovaniemi centre.
Check before you go
- Kauppa-Shop opens at 07:00 on weekdays and 08:00 on Saturdays. On Sundays it opens at 10:00, so adjust your start time if visiting then.
