Walk to Esplanade Park. The park is designed by Georg Kuphaldt, who was once expelled by Germany in 1915 as a spy because he had a telescope in his garden. Stand in the open space and watch the sunset. On 15 April the sun sets toward the WNW at 20:31, casting a long, golden glow over the square.

Head to Vermanitis for dinner. It is a seven-minute walk from the park. The restaurant serves a fantastic range of Latvian food in an authentic environment. Try the fried fish or the salmon steak.
