Timeline

  1. 18:40

    RVR train factory

Walk the grounds of the RVR train factory. This massive plant, founded in 1895, was once the largest producer of electric and diesel trains in the former Soviet Union. It is easily accessible by local transport.

  2. 18:55

    Vermanitis

Grab a bite at Vermanitis, a regional restaurant just a short walk from Esplanade Park. Order fried fish or salmon steak to try authentic Latvian flavors in an environment that feels historic.

  3. 19:25

    Esplanade Park

Stroll through Esplanade Park. Designed by Georg Kuphaldt, this green space offers a quiet place to sit as the sun begins to set toward the WNW, casting that specific golden hour glow.

Local tip

Vermanitis is open until 23:00 on Saturdays, so you have plenty of time to finish your meal before the light fades completely. The walk from the factory to the park is straightforward, but check the route if you are using public transport.
