Best time: 15 JanAbout 120 min

Timeline

  1. 15:00

    Riga Central Market

Grab a quick snack or local treat at the Riga Central Market before the light fades. The market is open late enough to fit this in, but check the website for specific stall hours as they vary.

  2. 15:30

    St. John's Church

Walk to St. John's Church. Arrive with plenty of time to see the free altar and the Gothic vaulted ceiling before the sun goes down. The church is open until 17:00, which is after the sunset on this date, so you can stay inside during the twilight.

  3. 16:45

    Black Magic

Head to Black Magic. It is just a short walk away and offers a Harry Potter-esque atmosphere perfect for settling in after dark. They serve black balsam tastings if you want something unique.

Local tip

St. John's is free to enter, unlike many other churches in Riga. Black Magic closes at 22:00, so arrive early enough to enjoy the ambiance before it shuts.
