Golden Hour in Hundeskov

Rømø is quiet enough that the changing light feels personal. Start with a warm drink and a walk, catch the last light of day, and finish where the day began.

Timeline

  1. 15:28

    Skansen

Grab a coffee and a pastry at Skansen. It opens at 11:00, so you have plenty of time before the light changes. Sit outside if the wind is mild and let the warmth settle in.

  2. 15:43

    Kirkeby Plantage Hundeskov

Walk from the café to Kirkeby Plantage Hundeskov. The path is short and flat. This is the dog park, but it is also a lovely stretch of trees and sand dunes. Walk toward the south edge of the plantation where the trees thin out.

  3. 16:28

    Kirkeby Plantage Hundeskov

Stand at the southern edge of the plantation and look west. At 16:28 the sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows through the pine trees. The golden light that started an hour ago will fade quickly, so stay for the final colors.

  4. 16:58

    Rømø Pandekagehus

End the evening with pancakes at Rømø Pandekagehus. It is open until 20:00 on weekdays and 21:00 on weekends. The warm, sweet finish matches the cooling air after the sunset walk.

Local tip

The walk from Skansen to the plantation takes about 15 minutes. Bring a jacket even in summer; the wind off the Wadden Sea picks up as the sun goes down.
