Timeline

Eat a quick dinner early at Chifa Leput. The restaurant opens at 10:30, so you can arrive well before the rush and eat while the city is still bright. This gives you plenty of time to walk up the hill before the light fades.
17:47
Walk to La Vírgen del Panecillo. The 20-minute climb from the historic center is straightforward. Arrive just in time to set up your spot. The statue sits high above the city, offering a clear view of the horizon to the west.
18:27
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW, perfectly framed by the view from the hill. The golden light starts about 29 minutes before this moment, so you will see the city turn warm and bright before the final drop of the sun.
19:12
Head down to BAJO EL PUENTE for a drink. It is a 12-minute walk from the statue. Open from 15:00, it is a reliable spot to cool down and reflect on the view. Note that it is only open Wednesday through Saturday.
