Timeline

  1. 16:30

    Cherusker

Grab a Hefeweizen at this German-run brew-pub. It is an easy ten-minute walk from the museum and opens at 15:30, so you have plenty of time to settle in before the evening rush.

  2. 17:27

Museo Etnohistorico de Artesanias del Ecuador Mindalae

Walk to the Museo Etnohistorico de Artesanias del Ecuador Mindalae. The museum is open until 17:30 on weekdays or 17:30 on Saturdays, so you have just enough time to browse the fair-trade shop and see the cultural displays before the light changes.

  3. 18:27

    Parque El Ejido

Head to Parque El Ejido for the main event. This park offers stunning views of central and northern Quito. As the sun sets toward the WSW, the golden light hits the cityscape perfectly. Arrive a few minutes early to find a good spot on the hillside.

  4. 19:12

    El Maple

End the evening with a tempeh platter at this vegetarian restaurant. It is an eleven-minute walk from the park and stays open until 21:30, giving you a relaxed way to finish the night.

Local tip

The museum closes at 17:30, so do not linger too long inside if you want to catch the sunset view. The walk from the museum to the park is about 27 minutes, but the view from Parque El Ejido is worth the trek.
