Grab a coffee or light snack at a shop near the Mitad del Mundo entrance before heading in.

Enter the Mitad del Mundo park. The $5 entrance fee covers the small museums. Walk toward the equator line to find a good vantage point.

Stand at the equator line and watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light from 17:57 will cast long shadows across the monument.

After the sun has set, take a slow walk around the monument grounds to absorb the evening atmosphere before heading back.
Local tip
Public transport takes at least an hour each way. If you are arriving by Metrobus, remember to transfer to the local bus at the last stop for an additional small fare.
