Timeline
18:15
Grab a drink at Água Doce Cachaçaria. This is one of the best known cachaça chains in Brazil, serving pub cuisine and spirits. It is just a short walk from the viewing area, so you can sip your first drink while the sky is still bright.
18:45
Walk to Balneário da Amizade. The revitalized public space offers ample fields, parks, and open areas. Find a spot on the western edge of the grounds. The sun sets toward the WSW, aligning perfectly with the open sightlines from this side of the park.
19:15
Watch the sunset. At 19:15, the sun dips below the horizon. The golden light that started around 18:43 will be fading, leaving a soft glow over the water and trees. This is the peak moment of the evening.
20:00
Stay for the afterglow. The park remains open and safe for a short walk after dark. Use the ambient light to find your way back to the main paths. If you need a late snack, check the route to nearby kiosks or bars in the area.
Local tip
Balneário da Amizade is free and open to the public. The western view is key for the sunset. After 25 years of waiting, this space was revitalized in 2015, so it is well-maintained and spacious enough to avoid crowds even on busy days.
