Walk 60 minutes from Sikosaari (or take a short taxi/ride from the square) to Porvoo Hillfort. This historic hilly area is the largest ancient hillfort in Finland, in use from the 8th to the 14th century. Arrive here to find a good vantage point.

Watch the sunset. On 15 January, the sun sets at 15:45 toward the SW. The golden light begins around 14:07, so you will be well positioned by the time the sky changes color.

Head down for dinner at Wanha Laamanni. This classy restaurant is in a building dating back to 1790 and serves modern Finnish fare. Try the deer carpaccio or tar-flavoured salmon.

End the evening with a drink at Porvoo Coffee Roastery. This licensed bar and café is in a converted brick warehouse by the river. The riverside and floating terrace tables offer a nice view after dark.
