Timeline

  1. 16:31

    Brushy Peak Regional Preserve

Start your walk on the main loop trail. The path is about four or five miles long, giving you plenty of time to breathe in the fresh air before the main event. Note that Laughlin Road is accessible from Northfront Road, but be aware that part of Laughlin Road is a one-lane road, so drive carefully if you are arriving by car.

  2. 17:01

    Brushy Peak Regional Preserve

Find a comfortable spot along the trail that faces west. This is the moment to pause. As the sun sets toward the WSW, the landscape will shift into the golden hour. The sky will turn warm and the shadows will lengthen across the hills.

  3. 17:31

    Brushy Peak Regional Preserve

Stay for a few minutes as the light fades. The quiet of the preserve makes the transition from day to night feel special. Once the sun is down, the trail remains safe for a short walk back to your starting point.

Local tip

The park does not have opening hours listed, but as a regional preserve, it is generally accessible during daylight hours. Check the route if you are driving, especially on Laughlin Road.
