Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium
Walk the main loop at Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. The layout is linear, so you can see the enclosures for Asia, Africa, and the rainforest without backtracking. Go early to enjoy the exhibits before the weekend crowds arrive.
09:45
Grab a coffee at Tazza D'Oro. It is located just a short walk from Highland Park and is known for some of the best coffee in the city. This is a good spot to pause and recharge after the zoo.
10:00
Stroll through Highland Park. This large park features two lakes, Lake Carnegie and Reservoir No. 1, along with gardens and overlooks. The walk from the coffee shop is short, and the park offers a peaceful contrast to the busy zoo.
Local tip
The zoo is busiest on weekends. Arriving at opening time gives you the best chance to see the animals and enjoy the exhibits in peace.
