Start at the base of the Tomb Staircases. Locate the staircase just after the last tomb on the side of the Royal Tombs. This is your anchor point for the climb.

Climb the staircase up the mountain. The path leads to a camp near the top. Take a moment here to stretch and let the city spread out below you.

Move to the very end of the track at the camp. This spot offers a great view from above the Treasury. Settle in for the final approach to the horizon.

Watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light fades from the sandstone as the sky shifts color. Stay for the last few minutes of light.

Descend the stairs back down to the main area. The descent is easier than the climb, and the twilight offers a different perspective on the tombs.
Local tip
There are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity of the climb. Bring water and any snacks with you before you start. The camp at the top is a resting point but does not have listed opening hours or services in this context.

- Wear sturdy shoes for the climb up the mountain.
