Royal Show Sunset at Swanbourne

The Royal Show is a spring tradition in Perth, but the real magic happens after the crowds head home. Head to the coast for the golden hour, then stay for the evening breeze.

Timeline

  1. 17:43

    The Shorehouse

Grab a cocktail and settle onto the deck of The Shorehouse. It is a great place to sit and watch the light change over the water before the sun dips below the horizon.

  2. 18:28

    Swanbourne Beach

Walk five minutes from the restaurant to Swanbourne Beach. This is the only beach in Perth that permits nude bathing, creating a relaxed, clothing-optional atmosphere. Arrive exactly at sunset to see the sun set toward the WSW.

  3. 18:53

    The Shorehouse

Return to The Shorehouse for dinner. The deck is perfect for enjoying the transition from golden light to twilight.

Local tip

The Royal Show runs during the last week of September or the first week of October. If you visit then, the show grounds will be busy in the afternoon, but the beach remains peaceful.
