    Culley's Tea Rooms

Pick up a hot pie and coffee from Culley's Tea Rooms before heading out. This famous spot has been serving locals since the 1920s and is known for its pies, pasties, and caramel slice. It opens early, so you can grab something hot to keep you warm in the cool morning air.

    Cantonment Hill

Walk up to Cantonment Hill. This is a seven-minute stroll from the Fremantle Arts Centre area. Climb to the top to find a terrific view of Fremantle Harbour and beyond. The Signal Station is here, though not open to the public, but the vantage point is perfect for watching the sun break over the horizon.

    Cantonment Hill

Watch the sunrise. On this date, the sun rises at 07:15 and sets toward the WNW. The golden light begins around 16:53, but the early morning light offers a crisp, clear view of the harbour as the city wakes up.

    The Attic

Head to The Attic for a warm winter coffee and wonderful food. This cosy café is designed by Brian Klopper and is one of the best spots in Freo for a morning meal. It is open daily from 7AM, so it will be ready for you after your sunrise visit. The brick-and-mortar interior provides a cozy escape from the morning chill.

Local tip

The walk from Culley's to Cantonment Hill is short and easy. The Attic is a short walk from the viewing spot, making this a very manageable morning loop.
